How Are You?

A Film By Alexander Chettur & Jake Webb

Alex and Sam are out in their first date in a High Class Restaurant, it is all awkward and tense, until one question changes the whole mood of the night, this question simply being three words; How Are You?

First written in 2022 on a long plane journey by Alexander Chettur, How Are You? is a Short Drama Film that explores various aspects in truth, perspective and also intention of feeling to ones emotions.

With a lot of closure of personality thanks to the COVID Pandemic, the film was our way in showing how sometimes the simple check in, even with those we may not fully know, doesn't have to be dishonest or vague.

Chettur contacted Jake Webb to Co-Produce the film in early 2023 which then lead to the assembly of the main cast, Sophie Winter as Alex Smith, Patrick Crowley as Sam Jones and Jean Daly as the Waitress.

As time went on in Pre-Production, the Producers looked to finding a location to utilise for shooting, this then led them to the Park Inn in Southend-On-Sea to shoot the film, which is also the main venue of the Southend-On-Sea and Horror-On-Sea Film Festivals

"It's a film that really makes you think about how much the average person holds to their chest day to day."

More cast members were added to the production including Cameron Stewart, Sophie McInerney, Maryam Rabbanian and Michael Perry who would be supporting talent within the film narrative.

Supporting the project in production roles included Bryony Pollard, Lorenzo Irerra, Kai McKay, Amy Slade and Beau Baker.

A few weeks before filming commenced, a Crowdfunding night was held at the Runwell Sports and Social Club which help to secure funds for the filming assets.

In September 2023, Principle Photography took place in which this was quoted by the whole team involved as 'the hottest shoot they have been in' due to the weather and location.

Post-Production progressed to the end of 2023 with a Screening being held at Twenty One in Southend-On-Sea to a live audience that gave some amazing feedback.

The film was lucky to be part of the 2024 Southend-On-Sea Film Festival which was screened at the same venue where it was filmed.

With this project being vastly different compared to Inner Rhythm, we took risks and time to allow more details to be produced in a character driven piece.

'"Another great film from Alexander Chettur. The skills which he brought to the film are getting better each time. He understands the idea he has when deciding to make a move and is not afraid to take a chance. His skills when it comes to picking a cast is also good as he chooses people who work well together and this shows on the screen when you are watching the film."

"What I liked was the simplicity, but also, the sense of everyone involved was having an engaging time whilst making it, and this came across during the viewing of it, which in turn made me the viewer more interested"
