On Reflection
A Film By Alexander Chettur
8 people within 2 different surrounds take a moment within life to look back at people that were special to them.
First written in 2023 after the passing of his grandmother by Alexander Chettur, On Reflection initially was a eulogy speech for his late grandmother that then took an idea for a short film.
With the feeling of grief that is found within life, Chettur wanted to explore quite a personal subject matter in a neutral perspective and using two various landscapes as backdrops for the cold feeling with a sense of optimism in the underlying tones of the film
The locations used as the background came from Chettur's own experience of feeling the emotions he did during grief, this included the busy and bustling streets of Central London for the city and the quiet and remote landscape of South Woodham Ferrers for the countryside backdrop.
In early 2024, the director called upon the talents of Bryony Pollard, Jake Webb, Sophie Winter, Patrick Crowley and Cameron Stewart returning to join the film from working with Silver Moon Pictures on Inner Rhythm and How Are You? respectively.

Joining the team on this project that hadn't worked with Silver Moon Pictures prior was Georgia Bennett and Estelle White who have previously worked with Chettur on projects back in College and University.
Shooting commenced in March 2024 which half the talent were all in London shooting their scenes near London Bridge and the River Thames, this continued until May of 2024 where shooting finished in South Woodham Ferrers near the River Crouch.
Post-Production then wrapped soon after ready for the Festival Circuit and a premiere of the film that occurred in September of 2024 at Twenty One in Southend-on-Sea, this was the unfortunately the last time that Twenty-One would host one of our film screenings due to it going out of business in 2025.
On Reflection has seen some recognition from the Newham Film Festival in which is was an official selection from the festival and was even nominated for best script along with the Southend Film Festival.
This project was a personal one for all involved to make and to understand the importance of going through grief and how to cope with this in ones own time.

This film is dedicated to those we have lost in our lifetime, but who we never lose in our hearts.
If you are currently going through loss, there is support available below from Mind UK

'"The film has his signature skill and design. The story is simple but effective and I like the way the film has been done in Monochrome. This gives the film a distinctive viewing experience with the use of yin and gang.
This is fitting as the film is all about balance between loss and remembering the ones which we love."
